My new favorite commercial...

A painfull reminder on why young girls such as my 8 years old niece, think they are fat and look pregnant because of a little belly...

They should be playing with dolls instead of worrying about weight issues.

Those Dove commercials are impressive, JATP. I remember seeing that first one in this series during the Superbowl--and how refreshing it was in the midst of all the beer and car commercials. This one really illustrates how much the ad industry "treats" the pictures that push their product. Pretty scary if you're a young girl and view that "look" as your goal.

Michele sent me over to ponder your point.

That is pretty amazing isn't it. I think that I need my own makeup artist and hair stylist. You have to wonder just how good you could look lol...

I wasn't shocked until they made her eyes larger. That just... that's just wrong. More people should see this.

Michele says hello!

I Love LOve LOVE LOVEEEE Dove's new advertising campaign. It may just be a smart person targeting women's concerns in order to get their sale and not a real concern, but it still gets out a good message.

We live in an age when illusion is so easy to create. And the channels of communication are so pervasive that it's easy for us to perceive the illusion as reality. Frankly, we have nothing else to convince us that it's any different.

This is an important commercial. I know it's ultimately supposed to sell soap, but it's a welcome digression from the usual tripe, and it forces us to think about the reality of beauty.
